Daffodil Preparation for April 11 Daffodil Show

Dear Members,
We hope that you are planning on participating in Wednesday's Daffodil Show. With shows in floral design, horticulture, and photography, there are many options to participate!
Exhibiting daffodils in the horticulture display is fun and easy. Please see the Daffodil Show Guide (click here) for information on what the judges will be seeking. As a reminder, you should bring your daffodils to Covenant Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, April 10 between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. (earlier is better!) to stage them for the show. We will have helpers available, but we highly suggest that you reference the Guide in advance of Tuesday to classify your daffodil before you arrive. This will save you a great deal of time!
If you have planted bulbs from the GCV Daffodil Collection, you are in luck, as the classifications and photos can be found on the GCV site (click here and enter password = greenarrow). Another great resource for identification is the DaffSeek website (click here). At the very least, the Daffodil Show Guide and the Horticulture Schedule provide the basics on classification and will help you get a head start.
A few helpful reminders...
Bottles and staging material will be provided. If you bring your daffodils tagged and in a convenient vase, you can quickly and easily transfer them to the provided bottles.
You can exhibit up to three entries in each division, provided each is a different cultivar or species. Have more than three lovely daffodils of the same cultivar? That's great! Enter them in the Three of a Kind division (#15) and/or use them in an arrangement for the Flower Show (email Ellen Moffett for availability).
You cannot enter cultivars from the 2017 GCV collection for judging in the show. Have a lovely daffodil from the 2017 collection? That's great! Bring it to display for fun and share with the club!
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday and Wednesday!
Debbie Melvin
